Tasting Notes

88-91
Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Sep 15
(these 1986 vines, located beneath Volnay Santenots, are planted essentially north-south, which resulted in less hail damage in 2014): Pale yellow-green. Tangy, fruity aromas of lime zest and mandarin orange. Juicy and spicy in the mouth, with inviting flavors of soft citrus fruits. More open-knit today than the village wine, offering an impression of sucrosité and good spicy length.

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
